WorldLink, one of Nepal’s leading internet service providers, has officially become the title sponsor of the Kathmandu Gurkhas cricket team for the second season of the Nepal Premier League (NPL).
The sponsorship agreement was signed by WorldLink Executive Director Manoj Kumar Agrawal and Kathmandu Gurkhas’ Managing Director Anubhav Sirohiya in a formal event.
During the signing, Agrawal shared, “Cricket is currently the most popular sport in Nepal, connecting people of all age groups. At WorldLink, we’ve long supported cricket at the grassroots level. Now, through Kathmandu Gurkhas, we’re taking that support to a more professional level. Beyond financial contributions, it’s important for companies like us to be involved in leagues like the Nepal Premier League to ensure the game’s long-term growth.”
Anubhav Sirohiya added, “The success of any league is tied to the involvement of big brands. We’re excited to have a reputed brand like WorldLink join our journey. With this partnership, we’ve set new goals for the tournament, and preparations are moving ahead rapidly.”
For the upcoming NPL 2025, Kathmandu Gurkhas has appointed former Nepal national team head coach Monty Desai as their head coach. The team has also retained marquee player Karan KC, along with Bhim Sharki, Shahab Alam, Rashid Khan, Dipesh Prasad Kandel, and Pratik Shrestha.
This strategic collaboration between WorldLink and Kathmandu Gurkhas is expected to raise the standard of franchise cricket in Nepal and contribute to the sustainable development of the national sport through private sector engagement.
