Tirhut Tigers Clinch Saptari Pride League Title

Tirhut Tigers have once again emerged victorious in the Mayor Cup Saptari Pride League, claiming the title for the second consecutive time. In the final match held on Thursday, the Tigers defeated Rajbiraj Rajdevi Royal by 9 wickets to lift the trophy of the tournament’s 7th edition.

Played at the Public Bindeshwori School Ground in Rajbiraj, Tirhut Tigers easily chased down the 93-run target in just 15.3 overs, losing only one wicket in the process.

Opener Bhola Shah was the star with an unbeaten half-century, scoring 55 runs off 45 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes. He shared a match-winning 79-run stand with Niraj Yadav, who remained not out on 18. Abinash Karn also contributed 13 runs. Royal’s Nitesh Yadav took the only wicket.

Earlier, after winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Rajbiraj Rajdevi Royal could only manage 92 runs for 9 wickets in their 20 overs. Rohan Bk was the top scorer with 23 runs, followed by Abhisekh Tiwari with 19, and Jitu Yadav who remained unbeaten on 18. No other batter reached double digits.

On the bowling front, Shrawan Yadav led Tirhut Tigers with 3 wickets in 4 overs, conceding 32 runs. Chitra Bahadur Bista and Anil Yadav claimed 2 wickets each, while Rahul Mandal and Ajay Yadav took one wicket apiece.

The Mayor Cup Saptari Pride League was organized by the Saptari Cricket Association. The winning team, Tirhut Tigers, received a cash prize of Rs. 2 lakh, while the runners-up, Rajbiraj Rajdevi Royal, took home Rs. 1 lakh.

The tournament’s Best Player was Diwan Pun from Rajbiraj Rajdevi Royal, who scored 101 runs and took 6 wickets in 4 matches, earning Rs. 25,000.

Best Batter was Bhola Shah from Tirhut Tigers with 138 runs in 4 matches, and Best Bowler was Chitra Bahadur Bista with 13 wickets. Both received Rs. 15,000. Rising Player of the Tournament was Anil Yadav, also from Tirhut Tigers.

A total of 8 teams from Saptari district participated in the 8-day-long tournament. The Mayor Cup Saptari Pride League continues to be a vital platform for emerging cricket talent in the region.
