Nepali calisthenics athlete Sunil Khadka has etched his name in history by breaking a decade-old Guinness World Record, performing an astounding 32 clap pull-ups in one minute. This feat, achieved on June 21 at Bajra Nonita Fitness in Lalitpur, surpassed the previous record of 30 set by American Blake Austin on December 19, 2015. Khadka’s accomplishment has already been officially recognized and published on the Guinness World Records website.
The official attempt was overseen by Sukdev Karki, founder of Nepal Youth Fitness and Calisthenics and a certified international strength and conditioning specialist, who served as the judge. Expressing his profound pride, Sunil stated, “Carrying Nepal’s flag on the world stage felt more fulfilling than any personal victory.”

Sunil Khadka’s remarkable journey began in 2020, when he initially struggled to complete even three proper pull-ups. Through five years of unwavering discipline and commitment, he transformed himself into a world-record-breaking athlete. He emphasized the power of consistency, saying, “Every drop of sweat, every morning session, every late-night workout—it all paid off. This victory is for every believer, every youth, for Nepal, and for the entire calisthenics community.” Khadka believes that fitness is not merely an option but a lifestyle, and he encourages everyone to incorporate calisthenics into their daily routine.
Beyond his athletic prowess, Sunil is also an aerospace engineering graduate from Pulchowk Campus. In 2024, he showcased his talent at the Asian Calisthenics Championship in Mumbai, securing one gold and one silver medal. As a certified personal trainer, he now dedicates his time to guiding others towards healthier and stronger lives. For the six months leading up to his record-breaking attempt, Sunil specifically focused on training for clap pull-ups, and his success has undoubtedly given Nepal a fresh identity in the global calisthenics scene.
