Spain Reaches UEFA Women’s Euro Final

Spain secured their place in the UEFA Women’s Euro final after beating Germany 1-0 in extra time. The decisive goal came from Aitana Bonmatí in the 113th minute, breaking the deadlock against Germany’s goalkeeper, N-Katrin Berger. Now, Spain will face England in the final, a rematch of the 2023 Women’s World Cup final.

The regular 90 minutes ended in a goalless draw. Bonmatí, a two-time Ballon d’Or winner, skillfully scored during extra time to confirm Spain’s historic entry into their first-ever Euro final.

Germany increased pressure in the final moments, but Spain’s goalkeeper, Cata Coll, made a crucial save to deny Lina Schüller and secure the win.

This final between Spain and England echoes their recent World Cup clash, where Spain won 1-0 thanks to Olga Carmona’s first-half goal.

Throughout the match, Spain struggled to score due to strong defense from Germany and excellent saves by Berger. Germany missed key chances in the first half, notably from Klara Bühl and Giovanna Hoffmann.

After halftime, Spain controlled the ball better, yet Germany’s defense remained solid. Despite playing with 10 players for over 100 minutes in the quarterfinal against France, Germany showed resilience but could not find the winning goal before extra time.

Coach Christian Wück side came close to scoring before the end of regular time but fell short. Spain’s win marks a significant milestone as they aim for their first UEFA Women’s Euro trophy.
