Sandeep Lamichhane, the star leg-spinner of the Nepali national cricket team, will continue playing for Biratnagar Kings in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) 2025. The franchise officially announced on Saturday via social media that Sandeep has been retained as their marquee player for the second season of the tournament.
Sandeep was also the captain of Biratnagar Kings in the inaugural edition of the NPL. However, the team’s performance last season was disappointing. Out of 7 matches, they managed to win only 2 and finished seventh among eight teams.
In the previous NPL season, players like Lokesh Bam, Basir Ahmad, Kamal Khatri, Dipak Bohara, Subash Bhandari, Anil Kharel, Jitendra Mukhiya, Rajesh Pulami, Pratish GC, and Naren Bhatt represented Biratnagar Kings. Out of these, the team is expected to retain 6 players besides the marquee pick.
As per the rules of the Nepal Premier League 2025, each team is allowed to retain one marquee player and six other players ahead of the season. A mini auction is also scheduled to take place in August to complete the squads for the upcoming season.
