San Francisco Unicorns Shine in Major League Cricket Opening Win

San Francisco Unicorns started the Major League Cricket (MLC) in the USA with a strong win on Friday. They defeated the defending champions Washington Freedom by a huge margin of 123 runs.

After losing the toss, the Unicorns batted first and scored a massive 270 runs for 5 wickets. New Zealand’s Finn Allen played an incredible innings, scoring an unbeaten 151 runs off just 51 balls. He hit 19 sixes, setting a new record for the most sixes in a single T20 innings. Hasan Khan supported him well with 38 not out, while Sanjay Krishnamurthy added 36 runs.

Chasing 270, Washington Freedom started well and reached 89 for 1 in the powerplay. But after that, they lost wickets quickly and were all out for 146 runs in only 13.1 overs. Their captain, Glenn Maxwell, scored just 5 runs. Rachin Ravindra was the top scorer with 42 runs, and Mitchell Owen scored 39.

The Unicorns’ bowlers performed excellently. Harris Rauf and Hasan Khan took 3 wickets each. Carmi Le Roux took 2 wickets, and Liam Plunkett took 1 wicket. For Washington Freedom, Jack Edwards took 2 wickets while Saurabh Netravalkar, Mitchell Owen, and Ian Holland took one wicket each.
