SAIM College is organizing the Hisense Nepal SAIM Inter-College 7A Side Futsal Tournament for the first time, starting from June 11. The three-day tournament will take place at Royal Nepal Futsal, located in Dibeshwori Planning, Bhaktapur. According to SAIM Principal Ashok raj Pandey, the event expects participation from 24 to 32 male teams from semester-based bachelor colleges. These teams will battle it out in a league-cum-knockout format.
The top three teams will take home the following prizes: 1st place Rs. 90,000, 2nd place Rs. 40,000, and 3rd place Rs. 20,000. Individual awards include Rs. 5,000 for the best player, Rs. 3,000 plus gift vouchers for the best defender, top scorer, and best goalkeeper, and a trophy with a gift voucher for the best coach.
Hisense Nepal, a leading AC distributor, is the main sponsor of the tournament. The total estimated cost to organize the event is Rs. 5.5 lakhs, as shared by Vice Principal Bishal Shrestha. Tournament coordinator Dasharath Shahi said SAIM, which has successfully held five editions of its intra-college Premier League cricket, is now expanding to futsal and has plans to hold women’s futsal tournaments in the future.
