Rajbiraj Rajdevi Royal and Tirhut Tigers storm into the Rajbiraj Mayor Cup final! The ongoing 7th Mayor Cup Saptari Pride League in Rajbiraj has confirmed its two finalists — Rajbiraj Rajdevi Royal and Tirhut Tigers, who will face off in the grand finale on Thursday.
Due to continuous rainfall, both scheduled semifinal matches on Wednesday were cancelled without even a toss. As per the rules, the top teams from Group A and Group B — Rajdevi Royal and defending champions Tirhut Tigers — progressed directly to the final.
The first semifinal between Rajbiraj Rajdevi Royal and Khadak Warriors, and the second between Tirhut Tigers and Kanchanrup Rhinos, were both called off due to unplayable conditions caused by rain.
The tournament featured 8 teams, divided into two groups. Rajbiraj Rajdevi Royal secured the top spot in Group A with 5 points from 3 matches, while Tirhut Tigers dominated Group B with a perfect record of 6 points from 3 matches. Kanchanrup Rhinos (Group A runners-up) and Khadak Warriors (Group B runners-up) had also reached the semifinals with 4 points each, but couldn’t compete due to the weather.
Organized by the Saptari Cricket Association, the Mayor Cup champions will bag Rs. 2 lakh, while the runners-up will receive Rs. 1 lakh.
