Olympics 2028 Cricket Schedule and Venue Announced

Cricket will officially return to the Olympics in 2028 after a gap of 128 years, with the sport set to feature in the Los Angeles Summer Games. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has confirmed the official dates and venue for the cricket competition.

The cricket event will follow the T20I format and include both men’s and women’s tournaments. Matches will be held from July 12 to July 29, 2028. The women’s gold medal match is scheduled for July 20, while the men’s final will take place on July 29.

This marks the second time cricket is part of the Olympics, the first being in 1900, when Great Britain won the gold medal in France.

Each tournament will feature six teams, with 15 players per squad, making a total quota of 90 cricketers across both events.

All matches will be played at the Pomona Fairplex, located about 50 kilometers from Los Angeles. Organizers have planned double-header matches on most days to maximize excitement and viewership.

However, the process to select the six participating teams is still pending. The ICC board meeting in Singapore, beginning July 17, is expected to finalize the selection criteria.
