Nepali athletes to compete in World Aquatics Championships

Four Nepali swimmers will compete in the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore. A six-member team, including the four athletes, is set to leave for Singapore on Friday.

The team includes two male and two female swimmers. Irvin Shrestha will take part in the 100m and 200m freestyle events, while Ajal Kaji Tamrakar will compete in the 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly.

Among the women, Olympian Duana Lama will compete in the 200 meters freestyle and 100 meters breaststroke while Aarya Maharjan will participate in the 50 and 100 meters freestyle. Shankar Karki is joing as the Chief swimming coach of the team managed by Bikash Sharma.

The championships that started on July 11 will continue till August 3.

Nepali athletes will compete starting July 27, shared Gangalal Gole, Secretary of the Nepal Swimming Association. Head coach Karki said that the competition would also help in the preparation for the 20th Asian Games, while looking forwards to a good performance from his team members.
