Nepal vs Thailand: Nepal Women’s Football Team faced a 2-0 defeat against Thailand in an international friendly match held at Thammasat Stadium in Pathum Thani, Thailand. The game was part of Nepal’s preparation for the upcoming AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers.
The first half of the match saw strong defensive play from the Nepal Women’s Football Team as they held off the home side, keeping the score level at 0-0. Goalkeeper Angela Tumbapo Subba played a key role in stopping several early chances by the Thai attackers.
However, in the 60th minute, Thailand finally broke the deadlock. Chatchawan scored directly from a free-kick, curling the ball into the top corner. Angela got a hand on it, but it wasn’t enough to keep it out. The pressure continued, and in the 73rd minute, Jiraporn added a second goal to double Thailand’s lead, sealing the victory.
This was the first-ever friendly between the two nations and the third meeting overall. Previously, the Nepal Women’s Football Team had faced Thailand twice in the Women’s Asian Cup, losing 5-0 in both the 1996 and 1999 editions during the group stages.
Nepal played this match as a tune-up for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers taking place in Uzbekistan at the end of June. Nepal is placed in Group F alongside hosts Uzbekistan, Laos, and Sri Lanka. Only the top team from each group will qualify for the Women’s Asian Cup 2026 in Australia.
The Nepal Women’s National Football Team will be looking to bounce back from this loss and focus on improving their performance for the crucial upcoming qualifiers.
