Due to heavy rain earlier this week, the original venue — Bashundhara Kings Arena — was damaged, forcing the organizers to shift the remaining matches, including Nepal’s, to the nearby Bashundhara Sports Ground. This change affected multiple fixtures, including the Bangladesh vs Bhutan match, which could not resume in the second half due to field conditions.
Nepal has had a strong showing in the tournament so far. They started with a 6-1 win over Bhutan in their opening game and narrowly lost to host Bangladesh 3-2 in their second outing. On the other hand, Sri Lanka has struggled, losing 9-1 to Bangladesh and 5-0 to Bhutan in their first two matches.
In the current points table, Bangladesh leads with 9 points from 3 matches. Nepal is second with 6 points from 3 games, while Bhutan sits third with 3 points. Sri Lanka remains at the bottom without a point.
The SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship features four teams and follows a double round-robin format. The team with the most points at the end will be crowned champion.
