Nepal Drops to 100th in FIFA Women’s Rankings

Nepal has dropped one spot to 100th in the latest FIFA Women’s Rankings, as published by FIFA. The national team’s total points decreased slightly by 0.12, resulting in the fall from their previous 99th position.

Earlier this year, Nepal climbed four spots after their performance in the Four Nations Women’s Football Tournament held at home. In that event, Nepal defeated Lebanon and Kyrgyzstan, drew against Myanmar in the group stage, and lost to Myanmar in the final. That strong showing had pushed Nepal to 99th in the global rankings.

However, in their most recent outings, Nepal faced Thailand in two friendly matches and lost both games. These results negatively affected the team’s points, leading to the current drop in the FIFA Women’s Rankings.

Despite this, Nepal is still ranked 20th among Asian nations, showing signs of competitive potential on the continental stage.

Globally, the top three positions remain unchanged with the United States in first place, followed by Spain and Germany. Brazil climbed to fourth, pushing England down to fifth, while Japan, the highest-ranked Asian team, fell two positions to seventh.

Meanwhile, Nepal’s men’s team remains in 175th place in the FIFA rankings.
