Nepal Drops One Spot in Latest FIFA Rankings

Nepal men’s football team has slipped down one place to 176th in the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday. The drop comes after recent match results in June. Nepal played a goalless draw against Hong Kong in a friendly match held in June. In the same month, the team faced a 2-1 defeat against Laos during the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers. These outcomes contributed to the decline in the country’s position in the global standings.

South Asian Teams Also Slip in FIFA Rankings

The latest FIFA rankings show several South Asian nations experiencing a downward shift.

  • India dropped six spots and is now ranked 133rd.
  • Maldives fell by seven positions to 171st.
  • Bangladesh is now 184th, down by one spot.
  • Bhutan slipped four places to 186th.
  • Pakistan dropped three spots to 201st.

On a positive note, Sri Lanka improved by four places and now holds the 196th spot.

Global FIFA Ranking Leaders Remain Steady

Reigning world champions Argentina continue to top the FIFA rankings. Spain, France, England, and Brazil maintain their positions at 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th, respectively.

  • Portugal climbed one spot to 6th, pushing Netherlands down to 7th.
  • Belgium, Germany, and Croatia round out the top ten.

Among Asian countries, Japan remains the highest-ranked despite falling two places to 17th. Iran also dropped two positions, settling at 20th.
