By defeating Real Sociedad 2-0 on Saturday, Real concluded their La Liga campaign on a positive note. Both goals for the team were scored by Kylian Mbappé.
Mbappé finished the league with 31 goals. This match also marked the farewell of Real’s coach Carlo Ancelotti and captain Luka Modrić.
The result of the match didn’t carry much significance, as Barcelona had already been crowned La Liga champions. Real finished the season in second place.
The French striker scored the first goal in the 38th minute. Although his initial penalty was saved, he scored on the rebound. His second goal came with just seven minutes remaining in the match.
Mbappé’s debut season at Real started somewhat slowly. However, he delivered an impressive performance towards the end, scoring 11 goals in the last six league matches. He is almost certain to become the league’s top scorer.
He is six goals ahead of Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski. Barcelona will play their final game of the season against Athletic Club on Sunday.
In other matches, Leganés defeated Valladolid 3-0, Espanyol beat Las Palmas 2-0, while Real Betis and Valencia played to a 1-1 draw.
