Lionel Messi Leads Inter Miami to Historic Win Over Porto

In a thrilling night at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Lionel Messi inspired Inter Miami to a historic 2–1 win over European club Porto in the FIFA Club World Cup. This win marks the first time Inter Miami has defeated a European team in this prestigious tournament.

Porto took the lead early in the game. In the 8th minute, Samu Aghehowa converted a penalty, giving Porto a 1–0 advantage and putting pressure on Inter Miami. But the American side responded after the break with full energy and determination.

Telasco Segovia scored the equalizer for Inter Miami just two minutes into the second half, leveling the match at 1–1. Then came the moment of magic. In the 54th minute, Lionel Messi curled in a brilliant left-footed free-kick that the Porto goalkeeper couldn’t stop. The goal not only gave Inter Miami the lead but also marked Messi’s first goal in the FIFA Club World Cup and his 50th goal for the club.

With this comeback victory, Inter Miami now looks ahead to their final group-stage match against Brazilian side Palmeiras. A win or even a draw in that game will send Messi’s team into the knockout rounds for the first time.
