Kylian Mbappe, the star forward of Real Madrid, was hospitalized due to gastroenteritis but has now been discharged. The 26-year-old French captain had missed Tuesday’s training session because of a fever and didn’t play in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw against Al-Hilal in the FIFA Club World Cup.
Real Madrid confirmed on Thursday that Mbappe had been admitted to the hospital for gastroenteritis, an intestinal infection that causes vomiting and diarrhea. However, he was discharged just hours later and has already returned to the team’s training base in Palm Beach.
According to Real Madrid, Mbappe will continue receiving medical care and will gradually rejoin the squad’s activities. The club emphasized that his return to action will depend on his recovery progress.
Real Madrid’s next match in the FIFA Club World Cup is against Pachuca on Sunday BST. If Mbappe doesn’t recover in time, he may return for the final group stage match against Salzburg on June 26.
Mbappe joined Real Madrid on a free transfer from PSG and has had a strong debut season, scoring 43 goals in 56 appearances across all competitions. Under new coach Xabi Alonso, Real Madrid has already won the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Intercontinental Cup this season.
