Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli held a meeting on Sunday with officials from Suryabinayak Municipality, the National Sports Council (NSC), and the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) to discuss building a new stadium in Bhaktapur’s Suryabinayak.
During the meeting at Baluwatar, PM Oli said that the existing Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu is too small and emphasized the need for a larger stadium. He requested support in arranging necessary land and infrastructure.
Suryabinayak Mayor Basudev Thapa informed that around 200 ropanis of land at Jagate (old brick tile factory) in Ward 8 could be provided, and the process would move forward quickly.
PM Oli announced plans to build a modern stadium at the site with a seating capacity of at least 50,000 spectators.
