India vs England Test Getting Thrilling Bumrah Takes Five Wickets

India vs England: Team India gained a narrow first-innings lead after pace ace Jasprit Bumrah delivered a stunning 5-wicket haul against England in the first Test at Headingley. Bumrah took 5 wickets for 83 runs in 24.4 overs, helping bowl out England for 465 runs—6 runs short of India’s first-innings total of 471.

Starting their second innings on Sunday, India ended Day 3 at 90/2, leading England by 96 runs. Sai Sudharsan made 30 runs, while Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for just 4. KL Rahul remained unbeaten on 47 alongside captain Shubman Gill, who was not out on 6.

Ollie Pope led England’s charge with a brilliant 106. Ben Duckett added 62, while Harry Brook narrowly missed a century, scoring 99. Jamie Smith (40), Chris Woakes (38), and Joe Root (28) also contributed. Despite these efforts, Jasprit Bumrah broke the backbone of England’s batting lineup with his precise and deadly spells. Prasidh Krishna supported well, taking 3 wickets, and Mohammad Siraj took 2.

Earlier, India posted 471 runs, thanks to centuries from captain Shubman Gill, vice-captain Rishabh Pant, and opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. England had won the toss and opted to field first but couldn’t capitalize, allowing India to put up a strong total on a flat pitch.

With a 96-run lead and eight wickets in hand, India holds the upper hand. All eyes will be on Day 4 to see if they can extend their lead and set a challenging target for England.
