The Chief Minister’s Inter-Province Kabaddi Competition starts today in Janakpurdham.
Madhesh Province Sports Council Member Secretary Shivaji Prasad Kanu informed that all seven provinces of Nepal will participate in the competition with a 12-player team.
He pointed to kabaddi as a cultural identity of the sport of Madhesh and hoped that the province might become a hub of sports development.
If we link sports with Madhesh, which is fertile and nearby, we can produce many sportspersons who can become national assets,” he said.
Kabaddi teams from seven provinces will participate in the tournament that will run until Saturday, organizers said.
The Ministry of Sports and Social Welfare of the Madhesh Province government has released Rs 5 million for the tournament as a budget.
Member Secretary Kanu also declared the prizes: the winner team will receive Rs 25,000, the runner-up Rs 20,000, and the third team Rs 15,000.
