Chelsea advanced to the Round of 16 in the FIFA Club World Cup by dominating Tunisian side ES Tunis 3-0 in an early Wednesday morning Group D match. Chelsea broke the deadlock early in injury time of the first half when Tosin Adarabioyo scored. Liam Delap later doubled the score in injury time as Chelsea dominated at halftime with a 2-0 lead.
The Blues sealed their win with a third by Tyrique George in the second-half injury time of the seventh minute. Chelsea collected six points from three group stage games with this fine performance.
In the other Group D match, Flamengo and Los Angeles FC shared a 1-1 draw. Flamengo had already beaten Chelsea in their last match and topped the group with seven points, as well as qualifying for the Round of 16. ES Tunis had three points, and Los Angeles FC had one point, both failing to qualify for the next stage.
Chelsea will face Benfica in the Round of 16 next week. Flamengo, meanwhile, will face Bayern Munich in the other Round of 16 game.
