Budhanilkantha Municipality Ward-10 Launches ‘Summer Football Camp’

Budhanilkantha Municipality Ward-10 has started a summer football camp targeting children under 14 to nurture junior footballers. The camp began on Wednesday at the Handball Multipurpose Sports Center in Kopan, with technical support from North Star Football Academy. The camp was inaugurated by Budhanilkantha Municipality Mayor Mitharam Adhikari and Ward-10 Chairperson Navaraj Bhattarai. Former Nepal national football team goalkeeper Vishal Shrestha and taekwondo coach Deepak Dulal were also present.

North Star Football Academy, founded by former national goalkeeper Vishal Shrestha, who is also a resident of Ward-10, leads the camp. Notably, Preeti Rai, a member of the Nepal women’s national football team, also started her journey from the same field. The training team includes Mahesh Shrestha, Kapil Dhakal, Sandip Khadka, Manish Paudel, and Jayprakash Bomjan. The 11-day camp focuses on basic football training, ball control, skill development, team spirit, leadership, discipline, and motivation through sports.

Chairperson Navaraj Bhattarai shared that the camp aims to develop talented football players from the area by targeting children aged 7 to 14. A total of 60 children are participating, with training sessions running every morning from 6:30 AM to 8:30 AM. Mayor Mitharam Adhikari emphasized that the municipality is committed to promoting sports development and encouraging various sports disciplines to reach new heights. Bhattarai added that the camp’s main goal is to inspire children locally, enhancing their talent, discipline, confidence, and social inclusion. He believes such programs will help produce future sports talents from the ward.
