Australia Dominant Win in Second Test Against West Indies

Australia vs West Indies 2nd Test saw a clinical performance from the visitors as they defeated the hosts by 133 runs in Grenada. With this win, Australia now leads the series 2–0 and has successfully retained the prestigious Frank Worrell Trophy — a title they’ve held since 1995.

Starting the fourth day at 221/7 in their second innings, Australia added just 22 more runs, ending with a total lead of 276. Key contributions came from Steve Smith, who scored 71, and Cameron Green, who made 52. West Indies bowlers showed resistance with Shamar Joseph taking 4 wickets, while Alzarri Joseph, Jayden Seales, and Justin Greaves claimed two each.

Chasing 277 to win, West Indies crumbled under pressure and were bowled out for just 143 in the second session of Day 4. Australia’s pace spearhead Mitchell Starc took 3 wickets for only 24 runs, while spinner Nathan Lyon also picked up 3 crucial wickets. With this performance, Starc moved to 395 career Test wickets ahead of his 100th match, while Lyon edged closer to Glenn McGrath’s 563-wicket milestone.

West Indies’ innings started disastrously after Josh Hazlewood trapped John Campbell LBW on just the second ball. Captain Pat Cummins dismissed Brandon King with a delivery that sent the off stump flying. Although Shai Hope and Roston Chase attempted a brief fightback, they couldn’t last. Hope was caught pulling Hazlewood, and Chase became Starc’s LBW victim after top-scoring with 34 runs. Shamar Joseph added 24, but the rest of the lineup fell cheaply.

Earlier in the match, Australia had scored 286 in their first innings, led by half-centuries from Alex Carey and Beau Webster. In reply, West Indies posted 253, giving Australia a slim 33-run lead heading into their second innings.

The final match of the Australia vs West Indies Test series will be held at Sabina Park in Jamaica starting July 12. It will be a day-night Test, as West Indies aim to avoid a whitewash.
