Argentina vs Colombia played out an exciting 1-1 draw in the FIFA World Cup South American qualifiers on Wednesday morning. Despite being reduced to 10 players, Argentina managed to avoid defeat with a late equalizer, keeping the match level.

Colombia took the lead in the 24th minute through Luis Diaz, putting pressure on Argentina, who had already secured their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup but aimed to maintain their top position. The match took a dramatic turn in the 70th minute when Argentina’s Enzo Fernandez received a red card, leaving Argentina a player short.

Despite the disadvantage, Argentina fought back strongly. In the 81st minute, Thiago Almada scored an equalizer, assisted by Palacios, to level the score at 1-1. Neither team could find another goal, and the game finished as a draw.

After this match, Argentina remain at the top of the standings with 35 points from 16 games, while Colombia are sixth with 22 points. Argentina had already qualified for the World Cup prior to this game.

In other South American qualifier results, Uruguay beat Venezuela 2-0, and Bolivia surprised Chile with a 2-0 win. With this loss, Chile’s chances of qualifying for the World Cup have come to an end.
