Belgian football coach Patrick De Wilde has been appointed as the new head coach of the Nepal women’s national football team. The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) is preparing to make the official announcement soon. Patrick has already arrived in Nepal and will lead the women’s national side in their campaign for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers.
ANFA had previously invited applications for a Pro License coach to take charge of the national women’s team. Among the applicants, the selection committee shortlisted two candidates, and after evaluation, Patrick De Wilde was chosen for the role.
The Nepal women’s team recently returned home after playing friendly matches against Thailand. With Patrick’s arrival, the team is now preparing to begin training for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers.
Patrick is not new to Nepali football. He had previously coached Kathmandu RayZrs FC during the third season of the Nepal Super League (NSL). His experience with the NSL and understanding of Nepali football culture are expected to help the women’s team grow and perform better on the international stage.
