Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have finally won the IPL title for the first time in their 18-year history. In a thrilling IPL 2025 final played on Tuesday, RCB defeated Punjab Kings by 6 runs to lift the long-awaited trophy.

Batting first after losing the toss, RCB posted 190 runs for 9 wickets in their 20 overs. Virat Kohli was the top scorer with 43 runs, while Rajat Patidar added 26. Liam Livingstone made 25 runs, and both Mayank Agarwal and Jitesh Sharma contributed 24 each. For Punjab, Arshdeep Singh and Kyle Jamieson each took 3 wickets. Arshdeep gave away 40 runs, while Jamieson conceded 48. Azmatullah Omarzai, Vijaykumar Vyshak, and Yuzvendra Chahal chipped in with a wicket each.

In response, Punjab Kings could only manage 184 runs for 7 wickets, falling short by 6 runs. They needed 29 runs in the final over. Shashank Singh kept the hopes alive with a stunning unbeaten knock of 61 off just 30 balls, smashing 3 sixes and a four in the last over. However, his effort wasn’t enough. Josh Inglis supported the chase with 39 runs. RCB’s bowlers held their nerve at the end, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Krunal Pandya taking 2 wickets each. Josh Hazlewood, Yash Dayal, and Romario Shepherd claimed one wicket apiece.

This win marks RCB’s first-ever IPL title after previously losing in the finals of 2009, 2011, and 2016. The 2025 season finally ended the franchise’s long wait, giving fans a historic and emotional victory to celebrate.
