Nepal Returns to ODI Action Against Scotland After 7 Months Under New Coach Stuart Law

The Nepal national cricket team is set to face Scotland on Monday in an ICC World Cup League 2 fixture, marking its return to One Day International (ODI) cricket after a break of seven months.

This match will be Nepal’s first ODI since November 4, 2024, when they last played against Scotland in the United States during the final game of the third round of League 2. That match, however, was abandoned due to rain.

Monday’s clash will be Nepal’s 74th ODI appearance, and the team will be looking to build momentum as they restart their League 2 campaign.

Stuart Law Era Begins

The match also marks the beginning of a new era for Nepali cricket under the leadership of head coach Stuart Law. Although Nepal took part in the recent Hong Kong series following Law’s appointment, the team was led by interim coach Gyanendra Malla during that tour.

Law, a former Australian international, previously served as the head coach of the USA national cricket team, where he led them to the Super Eight stage of the ICC T20 World Cup. His debut in charge of Nepal’s national side is being closely watched by fans and analysts alike.

Head-to-Head Record

Historically, Nepal holds a slight edge over Scotland in ODIs. Of the eight matches played between the two sides, Nepal has won four while Scotland has claimed three victories. One match ended with no result.

With a balanced head-to-head record and both teams eager to climb the League 2 standings, Monday’s match is expected to be a competitive encounter.
