The Men’s Asia Cup 2025 cricket tournament will be held in the UAE starting from September 9. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has officially announced the schedule.
This edition will be played in the T20 format, keeping in mind the upcoming T20 World Cup. For the first time, eight teams will participate instead of six.
Group A: India, Pakistan, Oman, and UAE (host)
Group B: Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, and Hong Kong
The opening match will be played between Bangladesh and Hong Kong on September 9. The top two teams from each group will move to the Super Four stage. The top two teams from the Super Four will then face off in the final on September 28.
India and Pakistan are placed in the same group, and their high-profile match is scheduled for September 14. If both teams qualify for the Super Four, they could meet again on September 21. If they reach the final, they may face each other a third time. However, India and Pakistan have never played each other in an Asia Cup final before.
India is the official host of the tournament, but due to political tensions with Pakistan, the matches will be played in a neutral venue, the UAE. This was agreed upon by both cricket boards.
India is the defending Asia Cup champion, having won the 2023 ODI edition by defeating Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka won the 2022 T20 Asia Cup by beating Pakistan in the final.
