The Nepali volleyball team, Help Nepal Sports Club, returned home on Friday morning after winning the bronze medal at the CAVA Champions League in the Maldives. The team was welcomed at Tribhuvan International Airport by Nepal Volleyball Association President Jitendra Bahadur Chand, Vice President Bharat Shah, and other officials.
Help Nepal won four matches and lost one in the group stage. Despite this strong performance, they narrowly missed the final due to a lower set ratio. Head coach Utsav Khadka called it unfortunate that three of their matches went to five sets, which affected their set ratio.
President Chand mentioned that this is only the second time a Nepali volleyball team has won a medal abroad. The first was in 2017 when the men’s national team won bronze at the CAVA Central Zone Championship in the Maldives.
Nepali teams have regularly competed in international tournaments held in the Maldives. Last year, Nepal Police Club won gold at the CAVA Women’s Club Championship, and the U-20 national women’s team secured bronze at the CAVA U-20 Championship.
