Karnali Yaks have officially retained Gyanendra Malla as their Head Coach and Cricket Director for the second season of the Nepal Premier League (NPL). The franchise announced the decision recognizing his impactful leadership during the inaugural edition.
Under Gyanendra Malla’s guidance, Karnali Yaks reached the second qualifier in the first season—an impressive achievement for a debutant team. Considering his contribution, the club has offered him a new one-year contract to continue leading the team in NPL 2.
Karnali Yaks have also retained seven players, including their marquee player Sompal Kami. Other retained players are Gulsan Jha, Nandan Yadav, Bipin Prasad Sharma, Dipendra Rawat, Arjun Gharti, and Unish Bikram Singh Thakuri. This solid core is expected to provide consistency and experience to the squad.
Last season, Karnali Yaks grabbed headlines by signing Indian cricket star Shikhar Dhawan. The team management is now working on bringing in another high-profile international player for this season. With a strengthened lineup, the club has set its sights on an even better performance in the upcoming tournament.
Gyanendra Malla, who has been instrumental in developing young cricketing talent, is expected to play a key role in shaping Karnali Yaks’ journey once again.
Stay tuned as Karnali Yaks continue their preparations for NPL 2025, aiming to go beyond last season’s success with Gyanendra Malla at the helm.
