Nepal Lose 3-2 to Bangladesh in SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship

Nepal lost 3-2 to Bangladesh in a thrilling second match of the Nepal vs Bangladesh SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship, currently underway in Bangladesh. The match was held at Bashundhara Kings Arena, where the host nation secured a dramatic win with a goal in injury time.

Bangladesh took control early in the match, scoring twice in the first half. Sinha Shikha scored the opener in the 14th minute, followed by another goal from Mosammat Sagorika in the 36th minute, giving Bangladesh a 2-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, tensions rose when Nepal defender Simran Rai and Bangladesh forward Sagorika got into a physical altercation in the 56th minute. Both players were shown red cards, reducing the teams to 10 players each.

Nepal responded with renewed energy. Anisha Rai converted a penalty in the 77th minute to reduce the deficit. Just nine minutes later, Meena Deuwa scored the equalizer in the 86th minute, sparking hopes of a comeback.

However, the joy was short-lived. In the dying moments of injury time, Sree Moti Trishna Rani scored for Bangladesh, securing a 3-2 victory. The final whistle was blown immediately after the goal, denying Nepal a chance to respond.

Nepal had begun their SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship campaign with a dominant 6-1 win over Bhutan, while Bangladesh had crushed Sri Lanka 9-1 in their opening match.
