Mohammad Aadil Alam Returns as CAN Calls 32 for T20 World Cup Asia Qualifiers

Nepal has named a 32-member preliminary squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia and East Asia-Pacific Qualifier, with Mohammad Aadil Alam making a comeback after nearly three years.

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced the training camp squad on Sunday. Among the selected players is Mohammad Aadil Alam, who was previously suspended due to match-fixing allegations during the Nepal T20 League. The charges were not proven, and he has now been cleared to return. This marks Aadil Alam’s first call-up to the national squad since the ban, making it a notable comeback in his cricketing journey.

Promising U19 player Yuvraj Khatri has also earned a spot in the preliminary squad, signaling Nepal’s focus on youth and future potential.

Nepal will participate in the T20 World Cup Asia and East Asia-Pacific Qualifier this October in Oman. Ahead of that, the team is set to tour Australia and play a three-match T20I series against West Indies as preparation.

The regional qualifier will feature nine teams, split into three groups. The top two teams from each group will move into the Super Six stage. The top three teams from Super Six will secure a place in the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, to be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka.

Nepal is placed in a group with Kuwait and Japan. The national team aims to qualify for the World Cup for the second time in a row, and the third time overall.
