Former head coach of the Nepal national cricket team, Monty Desai, has been appointed as the head coach of Kathmandu Gurkhas for the upcoming Nepal Premier League (NPL).
Kathmandu Gurkhas officially announced Desai’s appointment through their social media channels.
After being appointed, Desai expressed his deep connection with Nepal and Nepali cricket, saying, “Some journeys never end. Nepal and Nepali cricket will always remain close to my heart.”
Under Desai’s guidance, the Nepal national team participated in the 2023 Asia Cup and the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup, marking a significant period in Nepali cricket.
For the upcoming NPL season, Kathmandu Gurkhas have already retained Karan KC, Bhim Sharki, Shahab Alam, Dipesh Kandel, Pratik Shrestha, and Rashid Khan.
A mini-auction for the second edition of the Nepal Premier League is scheduled to take place in August.
