The 9th MONA Australia Cup Volleyball and Basketball Tournament, organized by the Myagdi Overseas Nepalese Association (MONA) Australia, is scheduled to take place next week.
This two-day event will be held on June 7 and 8, 2025 (corresponding to Jestha 24 and 25 in the Nepali calendar), at the Auburn Basketball Centre in Lidcombe, Sydney. The tournament will feature competitions in open men’s volleyball, open women’s volleyball, men’s veterans volleyball (for players aged 35 and above), and men’s basketball.
Open Men’s Volleyball
Twelve teams are participating in the open men’s volleyball category, divided into two groups:

Notable Players
The women’s matches are anticipated to be particularly exciting this year. Myagdi Kali United will feature either Pratibha Mali or Saraswati Chaudhary. MONA Australia will be represented by national team member Punam Chand, while Chhantyal Parivar’s team includes national player Kamana Bist. Both athletes currently play for the Nepal Police Club in domestic competitions.
In the men’s category, MONA Australia’s team will include national and Nepal Police Club player Rabin Chand, who previously led the team to victory in the Second Ausi Finance Gorkha Cup in January. Jaljala’s team will feature national team players Lokendra Raj Giri and Hemant Bahadur Mall, along with Ramesh Bik from the Nepal APF Club. Ramesh has already arrived in Australia for the tournament, while Rabin, Punam, and Kamana are expected to arrive later this week.

9th Mona Australia Cup Tournament Details
The prize money for the tournament has not been disclosed. However, organizers have indicated that it will be the highest for a volleyball tournament in Sydney. In the previous edition, Chhantyal Parivar won the open men’s volleyball title, while Dhorpatan secured the women’s title.
